Aesthetically from Turner & Ruskin -

atmosphere soften the appearance of distant objects'
has learnt Philosophically and Spiritually from
his mentors, Thomas Cole
and Alexander Von Humboldt
whose Cosmos confirmed many of Church's devout Christian
beliefs in the existence of 'a divinely ordered structure
